I'm going to be growing cotton this year. I've never grown cotton before, I've never seen a cotton plant.

Once I've grown the cotton, my mom has a friend who has a friend who spins cotton on a spinning wheel, and she is going to show me how to spin the cotton! I'll post updates to this project. Very Happy

Josh,

I really am going to be following this one! I've talked about growing cotton, myself, and my DH just laughs! Rolling Eyes I think it would be awesome to learn how to spin it and use it as yarn! I'm a "crafty" type person, so this type of thing just really gets my mind going with the possabilities!

That is so awesome!

My decision to do cotton next year will be, in large part, based on how yours does in SFG. Smile

I should be getting the cotton garden done this weekend, and I thing I'm going to go ahead and plant the little plants. Since we had a mild winter and it's warm early, maybe they will have enough time to make cotton.

Here is a picture of the cotton once it was fully grown

It produced a lot of cotton for just 24 plants.

My mom taught me how to spin the cotton

And she crocheted me a table mat from the cotton, I also made my own drop spindle.

I still have a lot of cotton left, and I'm going to weave something, I'll keep everyone posted on how I do.

This year you might want to plan on growing some cotton in your garden.
