Spice It Up!
Spice It Up!
Make a spice necklace to hang as a room air freshener, I hang mine in my car! It gives that great smell of the holidays!
What you will need:
whole allspice
whole cloves
cinnamon sticks
whole nutmegs
vanilla bean
dried rose hips
caps off of acorns
pine or cedar sprigs
heavy duty thread, dental floss, or craft line
sewing needle
Handy tools to use:
pliers
drill and small drill bit
saw
1. Soak the allspice and cloves, this will make it easier to put the needle through them without breaking them.
2. Use a drill with a small bit to drill holes in the dried rose hips, nutmeg (lengthwise) and acorn caps, use pliers to hold while drilling. Cut vanilla bean into 1/2 inch pieces. Use a fine tooth saw to cut cinnamon to 1/2 inch length.
3. I put my necklace together using this pattern, but you can put yours together in whatever pattern you desire.
4. Start with a acorn cap, then add whole nutmeg, rose hip, vanilla bean, cinnamon, 3 all spice, clove. Then repeat pattern 7 more times. Add a sprig of pine or cedar to each end of thread and tie.
Hang and enjoy that spicy fragrance!
