Scented Geraniums

Scented Geraniums Empty Scented Geraniums

Post  Theresa Sun Feb 10, 2013 12:49 pm

At the Midwestern Herb and Garden Show I picked up a collection of scented geraniums, I love how the leaves are scented! They do great to plant along pathways where people walk, brushing against them will release the aroma in the leaves. I picked up 9 different ones, I will have to have Bob and Josh build me something special to plant them in, I'm thinking each one gets a 1 foot square garden of it's own, I will let them come up with how to display each box.

Geranium -Apple
Trailing variety with apple scent, great for flavoring jellies, cakes and more.

Geranium-Pinewood
Deeply divided leaves have a pungent piney fragrance, a nice addition to potpourris.

Geranium -Concolor lace
Unique for its nutty aroma, it is also known for its bright red flowers.

Geranium -Coconut
Crimped leaves have a sabtle coconut scent on this old favorite.

Geranium -Apricot
Rose-Pink flowers and a noticeable apricot fragrance.

Geranium -Nutmeg
Dwarf geranium with small gray leaves yielding a fruit and nut aroma.

Geranium -Alter of Roses
Grown primarily for its attractive rose scented leaves used in teas and jellies. Pink booms.

Geranium -Lemon Rose
The attractive aromatic leaves are used in cosmetics, teas, and jelly. Pink blooms.

Geranium -Strawberry
Grown primarily for its attractive strawberry scented leaves used in teas and jellies.

I look forward to growing these in my garden this year, and I will be trying out some of their uses. If anyone has any recipes for jellies or other uses for the scented geraniums, please share them!
