Wall of Plants

Post  Josh on Fri Sep 30, 2011 5:29 pm

I also took the self watering soda bottles and made a wall of plants. I used two screws to attach the bottom piece on a wooden pallet and then added the top piece, soil and plants.
I planted flowers and some vegetables.

My mom liked the pole of flowers so well she had me move more pots to the other post, and she planted it with pink petunias.

Later in the year the petunias are still looking good in the soda bottle self watering pots.

I am interested in doing this Josh.

this is a neat idea. I think it would be a nice way to give a gift of a plant in a conatiner like this. (I give away a lot of plants).

Excellent!

Post  keithsnyder on Mon Feb 25, 2013 12:33 pm

That is a very clever idea. I am planning to set up an indoor hydroponic garden sometime, and this is about the best idea I've seen so that less water will be necessary to have to contain in case of overwatering a bit by an automatic system. I sure know plenty of people I can get the soda bottles from, although here in MI, I'll be paying them the 10ยข deposit fee.

Hi keithsnyder and welcome to the forum! Glad you posted!
This will be the 4th year for those self watering soda bottle planters, and they are outside year round. They are still in as good of shape as the day I made them!
They have worked out excellent for me!
When you get your hydroponic indoor garden going I'd really like to see and learn more about it from you, so keep us up to date!

This year I planted scented geraniums in the self watering soda bottle pots, so far they are doing great!
